Receive, unload and move fruit & veg; sort, grade and check quality; wash, trim, pack and label; prepare orders; store using FIFO; maintain hygiene, assist dispatch, update basic records and follow H&S procedures.
Description of duties, main tasks - Receive, unload, and move fruit and vegetables safely, including manual handling and the use of trolleys or pallet jacks where applicable. - Sort, grade, and check produce for quality, ripeness, and damage, separate spoiled items and report quality issues. - Wash, trim, pack, and label fruit and vegetables according to workplace requirements and hygiene standards. - Weigh and prepare orders for customers or deliveries, ensure correct quantities and accurate packing. - Store produce correctly, ambient or chilled as required, rotate stock using FIFO and monitor storage conditions to reduce waste. - Keep work areas clean and sanitised, including benches, crates, tools, and floors, follow food safety procedures at all times. - Assist with loading delivery vehicles and preparing pallets or crates for dispatch. - Maintain basic records where required, for example stock counts, delivery notes, or temperature checks. - Use PPE and follow health and safety rules, report hazards, damage, or accidents immediately
